post Berezeka Camo Pattern Review

July 30th, 2008

Last weekend I got the chance to use my new berzerka pattern camouflage in woodland (where it was supposed to be used!) I thought I’d briefly write a few words on what I thought of it.

I have a Rex Design M7 pattern version though I believe you can also get it in a Bekas pattern. This is the first time I’ve come across the M7 and it’s a nicer fit than the Bekas I’ve used before. I might have mentioned it before but it’s very comfy! The trousers itself are very nice, with elasticated bottoms so the trousers don’t slip up the boot and the waistband also has a degree of elasticity. The material is a lot lot thinner than that of my Flora which is good as I bought this as a summer/spring/hot weather uniform to complement my KLMK. The uniform also thoughtfully has some mesh in the crotch area and in the under arm sections allowing air to reach these sweaty places more easily. (yep you all know it!) The uniform could be worn easily without any t shirt or base layer but I have a habit of doing so and in this weather we’ve been having in the UK recently, it got a tad warm.

As for effectiveness, I was unable to test this out as much as I would have liked due to the nature of the game we played (our team was attacking a lot and camo just doesn’t hide you when you supporting an infantry assault down a road!) However I thought it seemed to blend in fairly well with the sunny weather we’re having and with the sun coming in thought the leaf canopy.

Unfortunately because I ordered a size or two to big, I managed to rip the crotch section slightly. And the buttons seem a bit to large for the button holes and it can be a major struggle to do them up. However I reckon this will get better in time and use.

Overall it’s a very very nice piece of camo and one of my favourite ones I’ve owned. Also I think it’s the first time since I started airsoft (4 years ago!) that I’ve had a complete set of camo in one pattern! (as in boonie/hat, shirt, trousers and webbing/vest) Not since I skirmished in flecktarn have I worn all one camo pattern.

  1. hey D…

I was tempted to get the Bekas version this month - the problem I find with Berezeka is that there seems to be two shade out there - the greener one, which you have reviewed, and the sickly mustardy ‘Birch’ camo version. :)

The Bekas suit versions mostly seem to be the mustard shaded version…While the KZS-1 Sniper Suit and the M7 seem to be in the greener pattern.

So I am toying with getting the Bekas version as an Autumn season camo, as the tan/mustard shades look like they will be nice for that time of year! —- Maybe! ;)

  2. Hum…

My KZS was most definitely the mustard colour your on about.

You cant really see it in that picture but the boonie I’m wearing is a different shade to that which I’m wearing. You can see it better in this picture.

Still not the shade of my old KZS but certianly not the same shade of what I was using!

  3. Yep - spot on Drezha - with the Boonie in shot I can now see the difference in the colours. I like the assault vest, btw, where did u get it? And I like the touch of the tape on the RPK grip! :)

  4. The assault vest I bought off Aaron Horocks (that’s his username) on Red Alliance. It’s a V-95 vest. Dimitry over at Soviet Proaganda has some. eBay might as well. It’s certianly a very nice vest, certianly it’s the first vest I’ve used in airosft and liked (used to use a SAAV and they put me off!) Fits a nice amount of AK74 mags (8) and Ak47 mags fit nicely as well. Downside is lack of hydration (I like my 6SH92 because I can stick a bladder in the backpack) but I guess because it has a belt, I can use a normal pouch.

The tape is actally holding the foregrip onto the RPK! If you look carefully just above where the bipod meets the handgrip, there’s supposed to be a black bit. Well I don’t have one due to my conversion from an Dragunov.

On an intersting note, I was accused of being french wearing my telnyshka!

Maybe you should change your boonie for a jaunty beret and some onions on a string around your neck!

    >>>> That’s the funniest (ie dumbest) thing I’ve heard in ages! LOL ;)

  6. …Hi D…

Just watching the BBC News about the Russian/Georgian crisis - there was a nice shot of a Russian soldier at a checkpoint wearing Berezerka suit…

So it’s still in the Russian inventory. No idea which unit the soldier might have belonged to. But it was interesting none the less.
